Robbing Hoody
You are a liverpool fan, so you are naturally biased, yes?
Why would we all have something against Gerrard. We are simply not blinkered by the English media love in with him.
If he is so great, why has he done nothing for England?
Lampard, Gerrard and Scholes are the best England have put up for the last couple of decades.
All three were top class.
All three fall just short of the best of the their foreign counterparts in the same timeframe.
They're club and prem legends, not quite footballing legends IMO.
No scholes is a football legend fact
>.If he is so great, why has he done nothing for England?
same applies to Lampard and Scholes in equal measure. Scholes was even boo'ed and derided as 'no goals scholes' until he couldn't take it anymore and quit.
Hippo
why I am a moron...im just going by your logic yet I am the moron...
what about Tim Sherwood he played loads the season Blackburn won it..is he better than Gerrard?
Did Maradona play in midfield? I was young when he was in his pomp it seemed like he everything for that Argentinan side.
andre's samba scarf (U6253)

Agreed. About Lamps and Gerrard.
Lippi, zidane, davids, xavi all know he is genius

"pretty obvious that it would be scholes, gerrards wouldn't see the ball."
Thats if 11 Scholes manage to stay on the pitch
Maybe. Why, what did they say?
Gerrard said Joe Cole was as good as Messi. But I am sure he knows more than me too
But Gerrard has won trophies...and your point was he has never won the league...
yet now its changing....
face it, you dont like him cos he plays for liverpool. I get that we all have a bit of it but at least be honest about it.
not to mention LED us to the Champs lge trophy...
This is extremely open, but if we're now talking about midfielders of any kind, then Fernando Redondo is just as deserving as some of the names mentioned.
Anyway, here's a list of favourites from the 1980s onwards, on footballers who plied their trade in Spain, because they're the ones I've seen most:
Higher up the pitch, Maradona, Zidane & Laudrup
Further back: Xavi, Schuster, Guardiola, Redondo
Koeman I wouldn't include as I consider him a centre half.
Aside from these, back in those days it was always a nightmare no face any team that had Matthaus in it. Beast of a player, who in his career played as an attacking mid, centre mid, defensive mid and even ended his career as a CB.
Gullit was also a delight to watch.
Gerrard has probably had more reds than Scholes, he has probably injured more players too.
Zizou no doubt, best player I have ever seen.
You mean Didi led you.
I disagree with Hippo, it is not because he hasn't won much that he is not great.
I am judging it purely on how he plays. He is a great footballer! Just not better than the likes of Xavi, Vieira, Seedorf etc etc
Everyone stop. We have some legends of the game amoung us.
They know more than Fergie about football. More than Zidane. More than Kaka.
Just noticed, De La Pena is the OP on gas?

-----------------------------------
Even being played out of position he managed a better strike rate for England than Gerrard has.
I might be tempted to go with Makalele as top dog as a dark horse.
Every side he played in improved massively, won the biggest trophies, and you noticed it immediately when he was gone.
Not the samba, goal scoring choice, but he's a legend. Club (in multiple leagues) and country. He's done it all and played a massive part in the outcomes.
Lothar Matthaus,
Matthias Sammer,
Davids,
Perlo,
Gazza,
No mention of these?
