Racism against white people is being empowered, imo.

Yale speaker on wanting to shoot white people in the head.

Whites accused of all being racist and privileged.

Death to whiteness at BLM marches.

Attacks on white people by black gangs.

Like that

Isn’t The Bells are Blue that notorious racist and bigot who thinks having a pansy for a brother makes him Greta Thunberg?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think he'll be happier when they stop taking the knee, unless they replace it with something else for him to direct his hate at.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You missed the homophobia there.

And who do I hate?

Honestly, I thought you were woke.

Is that it? Absolutely pales to insignificance in comparison and while there is a growing right wing faction in various countries, various ones of whom are in power, your post looks exactly what it is...

Fvcking nonsense.

I have said taking the knee is personal choice for players and I would not boo it.

So that means I hate?

Not as woke and progressive as some pretend here, LMAO.

Why do you keep using that word? Is it an insult? A compliment? A description for someone who's not racist or homophobic? What do you mean by it?

Back to the OP,

I genuinely don't get the backlash and cries of 'racism!' when it comes to positive discrimination/ affirmative action.

Like, surely most can accept minorities have had the short end of the stick forever to the point they're likely, or more likely, to be starting further behind with less opportunity. I mean, that's obvious right?

So who cares if a likely young, black person is getting the inside track for once? Who cares if it's fair on paper? I don't have a go at Wishing upon a Star giving opportunities to terminally ill kids do I?

It's such a vanishingly small percentage too.

It always white blokes who aren't in any way affected but suddenly they are very interested in parity. The same ones who get upset at Pride and International Womens day and banging on like 'Yeah but when is white mens day?'.

I'll tell you when white mens day is.

Every. Fvcking. Day.

I find it hilarious that the same demographic calling people lefty snowflakes etc can claim to be offended by stuff in the OP.

Either they're massive hypocrites, or closet racists, or a bit of both. To give the average gammon some credit, I think they're largely uunaware of just in denial about how the system they live in completely twisted in their favour. I don't blame them, as a WASP male I fit into the same demographic too, to some extent. But it really isn't that difficult to take a moment to step outside of yourself occasionally and acknowledge the privilege you've enjoyed. Actions like this don't hurt anyone. Certainly not the average white person in the UK.

Anyone who's been involved in a hiring process will know that profiling goes on. Spoken or unspoken, are you going to hire a similarly qualified pretty female receptionist, or the ugly middle aged bloke? This is definitely jarring from the BBC but unfortunately it has to happen, the only mistake they made is putting it in the advert.

The OP reports on the BBC advertising for people of colour, because I presume there are too many whites.

If there are too many people of colour at the beeb in future, or in sport or music or film or civil service or whatever, is it ok to discriminate in favour of white people?

Is the next question.

To be fair there are also white elements in this country who are starting from a place of great disadvantage - the travelling community and Irish working classes spring to mind here. For the vast majority of human history, pretty much the power has been concentrated with handfuls of individuals, many of whom were complete shlts to their own people as well as anyone else they could get their hands on

Also i read some article recently which covered some research which suggested that the immediate reaction of the British population to an Essex accent was 'thick' which is gonna be a big issue for bias if true. I'm not trying to minimise the plight of the non white in Britain at all by mentioning any of this, only to point out if anything that a 'white' vs 'non white' attitude to discrimination is misleading.

And you know what, this just shows how racially aggressive you are. I don’t think it matters what happens, I’m not sure anything could change this view you have.

They are operating positive discrimination, not yours truly.

Class, have and have not, rich v poor gap is as relevant as race.

And Asian kids and adults are flying high in education and work, in UK and America.

Fair comment.

Also, read those called white trash or ch@vs in UK and America, and as stated, ten years of white working class boys bottom of class.

But you used the phrase 'too many'. How many would 'too many' be for you?

The BBC aren't operating on a policy of too many of anything. Their official position about trainee positiona for BAME only applicants was:

the training scheme on offer was designed to “address an identified under-representation of people from ethnic minority backgrounds in certain roles”

I imagine if the doomsday scenario that terrifies you happens and white people are under represented they'll address that.
