The OP reports on the BBC advertising for people of colour, because I presume there are too many whites.
If there are too many people of colour at the beeb in future, or in sport or music or film or civil service or whatever, is it ok to discriminate in favour of white people?
Is the next question.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How many would too many be, bluebells? What's your upper limit for what you'd allow?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ask the beeb?
They are operating positive discrimination, not yours truly.
See OP
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But you used the phrase 'too many'. How many would 'too many' be for you?
The BBC aren't operating on a policy of too many of anything. Their official position about trainee positiona for BAME only applicants was:
the training scheme on offer was designed to “address an identified under-representation of people from ethnic minority backgrounds in certain roles”
I imagine if the doomsday scenario that terrifies you happens and white people are under represented they'll address that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You assume much, but know nothing about me, haha.
Why would the colour of bbc staff terrify me?
Weird thought process.

The BBC maybe reflected the population from a few decades ago when demographics were different, and so change takes time, especially in management.
It is a positive to see black people get into rural UK and farming, hence the Countryfile and Springwatch and natural science recruitment drive, I guess.
Are there any black or asian farmers in 're UK, for example?
Not sure farming has any relevance to an interest in nature and natural history.
I wouldn’t like to guess the reasons why the bbc wanted to make this specific role for bame applicants only, as I don’t know if it is due to the role specifically or other reasons.
When did we stop caring about honesty and integrity?

OP referred to Natural science programming, including Springwatch and I imagine, Countryfile.
I watch both and they have spoken of lack of black people going to the countryside, and have recruited people of colour.
Black and Asian people being in towns and cities and not feeling as comfortable out in the sticks, was also mentioned by black and Asian BBC staff.
And as stated, few if any black or asian farmers.
